i spent my day running in and out, my and down the house doing my laundry. the sun came out after a break of 5 days!!!
hey1 norah jones won several awards at the grammys!!!! woohoo!!! congrats jones!!! she's amazing yeah? i'm gonna buy a copy of her album. paul kept playing her cd asp'ly during my first 2 weeks. that's how i got to know abt norah jones and her music.
i haven't finish reading my lecture notes. yes, i've lecture notes. all abt chocolate. will be moulding chocolate, making ganache and writing with chocolate for the next two days. think tmrw i'll prob'ly juz sit in the laundry room, trying to get rid of the choc stains on my uniform.
i wanted to convert my driving licence into an international licence but was told that i've to take their knowledge test. so troublesome. think i'll juz get a bike and cycle everywhere. but rreally, in this place, it's much more convenient with a car.
u know, the dishwashing machine broke down so i was washing all the cutlery in the machine just now. as i was washing, i recalled abt how i had to wash the cutlery plus clean up the kitchen back home, well, i'm grateful that i had to do that back home coz i realized that without the dishwashing machine, i can still work systematically with the washing. yes, u've gotta know how to work in an organized manner in the kitchen. becoz of that i didn't finish reading my lecture notes. only did abt half of it.
sugi's aunt sent me a card. for yrs, i've not received a card unless it's nearing christmas or maybe my birthday. so i was realy surprised when helen brought the card to me. thanks auntie!!! and to her lovely son, dyan, actually i dun miss teaching...hahhahaha. ya, that's the truth but i miss all of u. somehow when i taught dehn and dyan. there was no pressure. i treated it like normal conversations, juz that it's in mandarin.
oh, my international frens have been askingme what does 'lah' mean? well, i told them that i dunno where that cmae from. i remembered when i did my EL mods, we studied this too. tried to trace the origin. think it's associated with mandarin - how we usually end with 'a' so when u say it fast, it becomes 'lah'. dunno whether i'm right or not. anyway, i taught them the word "shiok" coz i said it a few times n they were curious. i also told them that singapore does not have enuff babies and they laughed. tht that it's a huge joke but well, PAP does not think so.
hmmm....u know yesterday at my frens' place, they asked baobao and i to cook singapore food for them and baobao and i were like, wat u eat is considered singapore food. we're a rojak society. oh, i explained to my frens wat rojak is and asked them to try it out when they go down to singapore. wat is considered singapore food??? i have no idea. chicken rice? satay??? rojak population, rojak food. do we have our very own culture?? my soci mind working right now.
