I just watched a movie, at home. It’s about this Jamaican bobsled team. Yes, Jamaica has a bobsled team. Paul told me that it’s a true story but the real story’s not as funny as this one of course.
One thing I learnt from the movie is the sheer determination of these Jamaican bobsledders. They’ve got to adjust to the icy cold weather, learn how to run on ice, cope with the teases from the other bobsledders from other countries, etc. although they didn’t win the Olympics, they were amongst the top 16 teams. Not bad for a first timer. By the way, bobsled is this “thing” that has 4 people pushing it on ice and it moves like a roller coaster in “ice tunnels”.
Another achievement for me: my second movie in year 2003!!!!

Jean called me up to tell me about her chef. Well, she is no longer in the same group as me. I wanted to change to the Friday/Saturday class but not allowed. Anyway, she said that the chef’s very strict with them. However, he watches everyone and once you make a mistake, he’ll come straight to you and tell you what you’re doing wrong and correct you on the spot. That is great. I am glad that she has got a good chef to teach her. But, she did say that the atmosphere was quite tense. The students there didn’t talk a lot to one another, unlike my class where puff pastries could be seen flying above our heads. I’m not kidding. It happened.

I thought about Jean’s class and I told myself that I must cherish and learn as much as I can from Michael (the chef who taught me in basic). One thing I learnt from him was the science of baking. That is crucial. It also explains why his recipes are that good. I also like it when the atmosphere’s casual and fun. I guess intermediate will be fun cause it’s the same group of people. Keep my fingers crossed!!!

I don’t want to say what I’ve done today. It’s embarassing cause I did NOTHING again.
