it's gonna rain and rain this entire week. this morning, many roads were flooded. well, my trackshoes are wet, very wet i shd say. i'm down to only a pair of sports sandals to wear. no kidding man in this weather, wear sports sandals? good luck! well, helen asked me to wear her walking shoes coz she seldom wears it. so nice of her to lend it to me right?
anyway, we made linzer torte today. with the remaining dough, we made cookies. yum yum. then we also made a raspberry/blueberry flan. so boring. but i asked the chef wat i can do with the remaining short pastry and he taught me how to make almondine. woo..the rum with sultanas, frangipane filling and almonds.....soooooo good.
i was told by my chef that i'm not considered an apprentice. in fact i am a pastrycook. when i start to work, i'll be a chef. cool right???? my dream!!!! i feel as tho i'm touching the sky right now!!! think by th end of the course, i'll be plucking out the stars from the sky!!! hahahhaaha....really unbelieveable. i'm a pastrycook now!!
i'm quite satisfied with my performance in class today. hopefully i'll have a great day tmrw. hey u know just now for dinner, paul n helen made this dish out of ricotta cheese. basically just mix the cheese with a little flour and egg and then shape it like a thai fishcake. afterwhich, put it on a frying pan and fry it till it turns brown. sooooo gooood!!!! i've never eaten cheese like that. i can tell ya if i thrown in some sliced chillies and spring onions....heavenly!!! cheese is not popular in asia so paul and helen will try to introduce me to the world of cheese while i'm still here. i think that's a great idea! must try everything in life. dunno what u're missin gout if u dun try right?
