i've a fren doing a freelance tour guide job. however, she doesn't take her "clients" to the zoo or orchard. her "clients" are business pple who're here for seminars n so they take a three-hr tour at art gallery, museum and even changi prison. my fren said that it's very insightful.
anyway, as a guide, she enjoys her job. i'm happy for her. but she revealed to me certain pblms i her job which i think are silly. she agrees with me.
the esplanade is a place which is almost made compulsory by the govt to bring the tourists too. when these tourists are brought there, they're guided by the guides in esplanade. these guides are business grads from NUS/NTU. their aim is to mkt singapore n hopefully attract investors in to singapore. my fren said that it's so disappointing becoz her clients are business pple, lawyers, architect and they're not here to hear abt sg's economy. my fren wasquite embarassed during these visits.
these guides, according to my fren, say the most duh things. she knows it's not th grads' faultcoz they're paid to do this.
sad case for singapore. singapore = money. that's our culture, thats our life. must accept it.
